The Ashes Cricket 2009

England celebrated winning the ashes, a rare victory in English sport and one that they are not going to let Australia forget for a while. Sports betting Australia offered extremely bad odds with people putting hundred of thousands of pounds on them.

Confident that the best team in the world would come through to beat England, sadly this confidence was misplaced. To add insult to injury after this loss Australia have lost the ashes for the first time since 1995 at the top of the official and unofficial world ranking lists. Andrew Strauss was hailed the hero of the ashes winning the Compton-Miller Medal, man of the series and acknowledged as one of the best captains of English cricket that the sport has ever seen.

The question is can England continue on with this good form? All fans hope that it is sustainable however the history of English cricket suggests otherwise with many a team having a brief moment of brilliance but not being able to have sustained victories over a number of years. ;)
