Michael Phelps Makes it Eight Gold Medals
Michael Phelps gained his 8th Olympic gold medal of the Beijing Games to beat Mark Spitz’s 1972 record of 7, with victory in the 4×100m medley.
The 23-year-old American teamed with Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Jason Lezak to lay claim to an historical gold in a new Olympic record time.
